Staff Grade Pharmacist Job Description
CPL Healthcare, in partnership with the Irish Prison Service, is recruiting a Staff Grade Pharmacist to contribute to prison pharmacy services.
* This permanent post requires collaboration with the Prison Pharmacist.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Regular audits of prescribing practices within IPS to ensure compliance with relevant policies and guidelines.
2. Development, implementation, and auditing of guidelines for medicine use.
3. Expert advice on specialist medicines, including treatments for Hepatitis C and ARVs.
4. Supporting the IPS Covid vaccination program in logistics, medication management, and safety.
Additional Duties:
1. Providing advice to medical and nursing staff on drug usage and safety.
2. Ensuring safe medicine use through risk evaluation and management.
3. Participating in multidisciplinary committees, such as the Drugs & Therapeutics committee.
4. Conducting audits and research to promote medicine safety and minimize errors.
5. Assisting in tender documentation and contract management for prison pharmacy services.
6. Providing medication information and training to prison healthcare staff.
7. Visiting prison pharmacies to ensure proper storage and recording of medications.
8. Maintaining professional competency through Continued Professional Development.
9. Assisting the Prison Pharmacist in duties and responsibilities as required.
10. Performing other duties assigned by the office.
11. Collaborating with the IPS HQ healthcare team.
