Role:
The R&D Project Manager is responsible for core business projects including design impact changes to the products or processes (Fit/Form/Function) post-product launch and ensuring quality documents specifications and procedures are adhered to for such changes. The team is also responsible for supporting Cost Saving Projects, Supply Security Projects and Root Cause Investigations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the R&D team (8) and will have responsibility for ensuring successful delivery of projects and activities. They will also work closely with manufacturing globally to support through technical expertise the current base of products.
The Project Manager will be required to establish and maintain a high-performance culture by fostering innovation, personal accountability, and commitment to results. The Project Manager will be responsible for coaching and mentoring Core Team Members.

Duties & Responsibilities:
10. Core Business Initiatives Project Portfolio: Identifying, evaluating and resourcing a range of projects required to ensure R&D support for Current Product Portfolio. This includes ensuring the correct expertise and knowledge base is available in R&D to support Engineering, Operations and Marketing groups for the current portfolio
11. Project Management: Planning, scheduling, documenting and initiating activities of resources you have responsibility for, in collaboration with other leaders, to execute the R&D body of work including Core Business projects. Ensuring successful completion according to agreed schedules and corporate priorities. Taking the initiative in completing critical tasks which lead to progressive movement of projects. Reviewing technical product documentation for areas of assigned responsibility
12. People Leadership: Providing the overall direction of the Associates within research and development group, controlling organization growth and resource planning. In addition to recruitment and selection, directing assignments, monitoring performance and career development planning.
13. Budgetary Management: Developing and implementing project budgets and cost centre expense plans and controlling and managing the financial plans to ensure cost effectiveness
14. External Resources: Identifying and using appropriate qualified external organizations to supplement in-house capabilities within approved project and operational cost plans and meeting project deadlines
15. Cross Functional Coordination: Maintaining effective relationships with other departments (R&D, Manufacturing, Engineering, Global R&D, Marketing and Quality Management) to facilitate the introduction of new or improved technologies. Providing required technical support and expertise to support ongoing corporate projects and to achieve a smooth transition from R&D to New Product Development and Manufacturing
Experience:
16. Third Level Degree (Hon) in Mechanical / Engineering / Science
17. 5 Years commercial experience in a R&D role (Medical Device Industry)
18. Strong Project Management experience is required, preferably in Medical Devices or other Regulated Industry
19. Proven ability to manage and lead multi-functional teams to drive success of a project
20. Knowledge and experience of Hydrophilic Coating
