Senior Leakage Engineer (Water Conservation Lead) Location: Cork and surrounding area Sector: Clean Water Infrastructure Note: This role is based in Cork City and its environs and requires office / site attendance a minimum of 2 days per week. This is an immediate requirement so early application is advisable. Are you an experienced Civil / Environmental Engineer with a background in water network management or leakage detection? Predominantly based within the Cork Uisce ireann office, The Water Conservation Lead will report directly to the Leakage Operations Regional Manager and will be responsible for leading and managing the performance of Leakage Detection team(s) around the Cork region and provide them with the necessary direction and skills to undertake leakage & network management activities within the water network system in order to deliver Irish Water's targets in relation to Water Conservation. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Team Leadership & Performance Management: Lead and manage leakage detection teams, ensuring health and safety compliance, skills development, performance reviews, and efficient use of resources (vehicles, equipment, materials). Leakage Detection & Network Management: Oversee leakage detection operations, DMA (District Metered Areas) integrity, data accuracy, and use of technology (including handheld devices and logging equipment). Budget & Resource Management: Manage team budgets, approve purchases, and optimize cost-effective delivery of leakage reduction activities. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate with internal teams (Operations, Asset Planning, IDD, Water Network Ops) and external parties (contractors, Roads Authorities), ensuring effective planning, permitting, and reporting. Operational Planning & Decision-Making: Prioritise and direct proactive and reactive leakage control activities, manage small projects (e.g., logger deployment), and escalate issues appropriately. Health, Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety procedures, provide necessary equipment, and ensure legal and procedural adherence. Data & Technology Oversight: Champion use of enterprise systems (GIS, Maximo), monitor network data, and ensure updates and analysis are completed accurately. Reservoir & Pump Management: Monitor and manage pumping regimes and reservoir operations to support network efficiency (CALM networks). Emergency & Out-of-Hours Cover: Provide support during emergencies or out-of-hours as needed. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience : Minimum of 5 years direct relevant experience of working in a senior water network management role or utility network management role. Relevant third level qualification and or accreditation is desirable. Water Services Training Group Qualification desirable.
