An established global manufacturing and engineering business is seeking a Cost Accountant to join its finance team in Shannon. This role represents a key opportunity to establish and develop a dedicated cost accounting function within the business, moving from a historical shared-services model to a more embedded, value-adding finance presence. The Cost Accountant will play a critical role in cost control, inventory valuation, and margin analysis, partnering closely with operations and supply chain teams to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement. The position reports directly to the Site Controller and offers strong exposure to senior stakeholders and operational leadership. Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain standard costs, performing variance analysis and margin reporting Ensure accurate inventory valuation and cost of goods sold reporting Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and analysis of manufacturing costs Identify cost trends, efficiency opportunities, and cost-reduction initiatives Provide financial support for capital expenditure and strategic projects Ensure compliance with accounting standards, controls, and audit requirements Support ERP enhancements and drive continuous process improvements Requirements: 3-5 years' experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing or engineering environment Strong knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting Experience working with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle) Advanced Excel skills Strong analytical ability with clear, confident communication skills Education & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline Professional accounting qualification (e.g. CPA, CMA) preferred Postgraduate qualification advantageous Key Attributes Commercially minded with a strong attention to detail Comfortable working both independently and cross-functionally Process-driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement High integrity and strong professional standards What you need to do now If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.
