About This Role:
The Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) will be responsible for commercial execution, payments capability and delivery of strategic change across the MTL franchise. The role has a broad set of commercial and operational responsibilities requiring specific expertise in payments, SEPA Instant, and change management at a critical point in the firm’s evolution.
This is a hands-on leadership role, combining commercial ownership, operational problem-solving, and transformation delivery, supporting both near-term execution and longer-term strategic positioning in payments and solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial And Revenue Leadership
Own and govern the corporate sales and pipeline management framework.
Lead monthly commercial performance reviews across Dublin, Madrid, and Paris.
Partner with sales & relationship teams to drive disciplined execution and conversion.
Act as senior commercial escalation point, for complex client, pricing and deliverables.
Payments and SEPA Instant Leadership:
Serve as the senior business lead for SEPA Instant readiness and execution, working across Technology, Operations, Compliance and Commercial teams.
Ensure payments requirements are embedded into: Commercial propositions; Client experience design and Operational processes
Bring practical payments expertise (instant payments, flow monitoring, exception handling, settlement considerations) into day-to-day decision-making.
Support the broader evolution of the business into payments and payment-adjacent solutions.
Transformation and Change Management:
Act as MTL’s business owner for technology and operational transformation initiatives.
Translate regulatory and technology change into executable business actions.
COO & Cross Functional Leadership Team Collaboration:
Provide day to day senior operational support to the COO.
Act as first line escalation for cross functional commercial and operational issues, helping to embed pragmatic operational improvements across the franchise.
Work closely with Compliance as a business counterpart, supporting implementation led regulatory change and prudent operational enhancements.
Partner with Finance on commercially relevant regulatory returns (e.g. CESOP) and act as a connective leader across Trading, Commercial, Operations, Finance and Compliance
9 – 15 years + senior commercial leadership experience within regulated financial services, payments, or regulated financial institutions.
Demonstrable payments experience, ideally including: SEPA / SEPA Instant; Transactional flows; Operational payments processes.
Commercially astute with strong execution discipline and highly credible leader.
Pragmatic, delivery oriented, and solutions focused.
A natural integrator who can translate strategy into action. Comfortable operating in ambiguity and evolving environments.
Proven involvement in business led transformation or change programmes, particularly technology or regulatory driven change.
Strong cross functional operating experience across commercial, operations, compliance and technology teams.
Comfortable operating in a regulated environment and working alongside other SLT / PCF team members
Ideally experienced supporting or delivering payments platform implementations or upgrades across multi-jurisdictional operations.
Sound background in FX, payments, transaction banking, or payment services providers.
