Job Description Summary
To ensure the Central Laboratory is meeting the highest quality standards. To supervise the technical staff and perform general technical assignments and testing in the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory in accordance with current procedures and quality standards, under the supervision of the Manager or above, ensuring that agreed turnarounds are achieved.
The Role

Create a culture of process improvement with a focus on streamlining processes and meeting client needs.
Supervise daily activities of the laboratory department within quality and budgetary guidelines.
Ensure work meets agreed turnaround time by daily review of department pending lists.
Perform technical assignments and testing and issue reports in accordance with written procedures.
Adhere to written internal and external quality control procedures to ensure the quality of results.
Ensure compliance with CAP, relevant regulations, and other relevant standards.
Ensure the laboratory adheres to standard operating procedures and protocol requirements daily.
Manage projects and workload assignments, ensuring timely completion by the team.
Plan and coordinate daily operational activities for team members.
Monitor reagents and supplies, manage inventory.
Monitor laboratory operations and provide guidance to staff for issues such as instrument failures, reagent/quality control issues, sample integrity issues, delays in testing, and communication of abnormal results.
Identify gaps and inconsistencies in data, conduct root cause analysis and process improvement initiatives.
Create an environment that motivates people, identify development opportunities, act as a coach and mentor, maintain a positive working environment, and reduce staff turnover.
Set clear goals and objectives with staff through the performance review programme.
Recruit, train, develop, and provide continuing education for laboratory staff.
Build relationships internally and externally, interacting with departments such as Project Management, LIS, Scientific Affairs, Global Validations, QA, Client Services, Global Labs, clients, and auditors.
Assist in evaluation and validation of new methodologies and instrumentation working closely with Global Validations Department.
Ensure sufficient personnel cover workflow through staffing rosters, holiday approvals, and overtime scheduling.
Deputize for the Manager or above in the event of absence.
Any other relevant tasks as assigned by management.
You will need
Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science or Biotechnology.
MSc specialising in Biochemistry is highly desirable.
Minimum 5 years of experience working in a Biochemistry laboratory.
Experience with CAP and/or ISO-15189 accreditation.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and exhibit time management skills.
