We are seeking applications to join our talented multidisciplinary team within our growing Approved Centre. This centre focuses on specialist inpatient care with a model of recovery and rehabilitation, offering treatments such as psychological interventions, self-care, activities of daily living (ADL), medication management, peer support, occupational functioning, and physical health programs.
Job Objectives
The role of a psychiatric nurse is to provide care to service users. We support your development and upskilling to deliver high-quality care, maintain professional relationships, and collaborate effectively with team members and service users.
Our goal is to help individuals reach their full potential and lead meaningful lives through our services.
Daily responsibilities include:
* Joining our dynamic team in the specialist inpatient Mental Health Service at Nua Healthcare.
* Safe management and administration of medications.
* Utilising nursing skills to support effective front-line support for all service users.
* Supporting the development and implementation of health assessments, medication plans, and supporting documentation such as personal, epilepsy, and diabetic plans.
* Ensuring health action plans are properly delivered.
* Promoting good relationships with primary healthcare services in the community.
* Communicating and liaising with the multidisciplinary team.
* Identifying supports and working in partnership with individuals, families, and other supports as outlined in personal plans.
* Supporting patients with health appointments and following through on recommendations.
* Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding patients and staff.
* Promoting person-centred planning using key worker systems and shared goals, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
* Supporting the development of relevant documentation such as personal plans and standard operating procedures.
* Encouraging community involvement for service users.
* Assisting the DON in compiling and presenting reports.
Skills and Requirements
Qualifications
* Registered on the Psychiatric Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Knowledge
* Excellent knowledge of medication management.
* Understanding of individual needs.
Experience
* Experience in psychiatric nursing.
* Experience relating to people in supportive roles.
Skills
* Effective communication skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative.
* Willingness to learn and flexibility.
* Good organisational and IT skills.
* Self-motivated and proactive.
