Job Overview
Power Plant Operations Technician – Permanent position based in Shannonbridge, Ireland.
Responsibilities
Operate critical control systems (DCS, HMI, CEMS) and maintain safe, efficient plant performance.
Ensure regulatory and procedural compliance with quality, EHS, and operational procedures.
Detect abnormal conditions, take corrective action from the control room or field, and keep the plant within PPA and grid requirements.
Conduct field monitoring and frontline maintenance – perform routine rounds, support equipment upkeep, and assist with testing.
Coordinate with grid and station leadership – follow dispatch instructions, report issues to the shift supervisor, and maintain accurate logs, schedules, and operational data.
Support safe maintenance access – assist with LOTO and plant release for maintenance once trained.
Identify and report hazards – raise unsafe conditions, equipment deficiencies, and operational risks.
Shift Pattern & Working Hours
12 hour shifts.
Willing to work holidays, weekends, and nights as required by the shift pattern.
Qualifications
Proactive, technically skilled and safety driven operator with strong analytical ability.
Experience operating complex systems such as DCS and HMI.
Understanding of power plant processes – turbines and balance of plant equipment interactions.
Knowledge of EHS procedures, hazard identification, and LOTO and permit to work processes.
Keen interest in continuous learning and improving plant performance.
Excellent communicator, able to build strong working relationships.
Organised, detail focused and accurate with data and procedural compliance.
