LocationLimerick, National Technology Park, CastletroyDuration12 monthsHours40 hours per week (onsite)ResponsibilitiesProvide first-class cost-effective design solutions for automated equipment for next generation Med Tech manufacturing equipment.Deep working knowledge & demonstrated capability to design automation equipment & processes.Generate Design concepts in 2D and 3D CAD of proposals to help drive project solutions and recommendations.Have an understanding of FEA techniques to verify design, preferably able to use FEA software to verify design.Formulate and recommend engineering policies and technical work in accordance with project objectives. Ensure that sound technical engineering concepts are applied.Maintain a network and open lines of communication with other technology teams across J&J, ensuring awareness and alignment with key stakeholder needs and new technology developments.Lead and develop new value propositions that employ the latest technologies to bring increased efficiencies to the manufacturing supply chain.Develop Proof of Principle (POP) activities to de-risk proposed solutions and drive these POP activities to completion, iterating the design where needed.Provide a clear/concise communications with both key stakeholders and Engineering Teams.Ensure customer requirements are met and that customer feedback/recommendations are sought to allow closure of successful use cases.Manage key equipment partners and integrators for the development of automated manufacturing systems.Establish effective working relationships and develop new partnerships to optimize product development with partners across the organization.Establish strong relationships with new and potentially key vendors.Support and lead where appropriate in developing the following Project Management requirements:Report generation and project progress reporting.Key delivery metrics as per the stage gate process.Risk analysis / managing risks and issues.RequirementsStrong experience in a similar role (preferably around 7-10 years experience).Experience within manufacturing and with high-volume automated assembly lines.Strong experience in 3D CAD modeling and a strong understanding of CAD packages. Autodesk Inventor is preferred; a strong SolidWorks background is also highly beneficial/acceptable.Previous experience in Project Management.Proof of Principle (POP): Hands‑on experience developing, testing, iterating, and de‑risking early‑stage prototype rigs.Nice-to-Haves: Direct hands‑on proficiency with FEA software packages.DetailsThis role offers a very competitive hourly rate.
