Electrical Design Engineer

Our client is an engineering and utilities services company well known for its design, build and maintenance services to telecoms networks in Ireland over the past ten years.
They are now expanding into Electricity Infrastructure Delivery and are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to help meet their growth targets.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Electrical Design Engineer will play a key role in day-to-day project and team management.
Responsibilities
Serve as the technical lead within the New Power Division.
Produce engineering drawings for overhead lines, trenching and ducting that meet Irish distribution network operator and Irish Transmission System Operator (TSO) specifications.
Conduct cable derating reports in accordance with Irish distribution network operator and Irish TSO specifications.
Prepare equipment specifications.
Evaluate technical equipment offers.
Write technical reports.
Apply logical and imaginative problem-solving approaches.
Review and interpret client tender documents for high- and medium-voltage Assembly.
Develop complete and compliant technical and commercial submissions for transmission lines and grid connections.
Create cost estimates, Bill of Quantities and pricing strategies based on technical scope and project risk assessment.
Support on-site teams with issues during project delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
Over 5 years of experience designing across 10 kV to 220 kV.
Knowledge of substation design, grid connections, renewable sector and wider utility sector.
Familiarity with Irish distribution network operator and Irish TSO standards, specifications and practices.
Experience with utility tendering processes and full project lifecycles.
Proficiency in Eplan and AutoCAD 2D (desirable).
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and SharePoint (Office 365).
Strong understanding of utility standards and safety practices.
Team player who supports overall team success.
Full clean driver's licence – able to travel to Telugu project sites as required.
