LaoisSalary: From €27,000 per yearType: Full-time, PermanentJob Summary:The Coroner's Office for Laois and Carlow is seeking a Legal Secretary to provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to the Coroner in a sensitive and high-responsibility environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the Coroner to ensure all administrative, legal, and procedural matters relating to inquests and investigations are managed efficiently, accurately, and with discretion.Key Responsibilities:Prepare, manage, and file all documentation relating to Coroner's investigations and inquests, including statements, reports, and legal noticesLiaise professionally with bereaved families, legal representatives, An Garda Síochána, HSE, and other agencies involved in the inquest processSupport the Coroner at inquests, including attending hearings, assisting with documentation, and managing case filesTranscribe statements and evidence from audio recording or dictation, ensuring timeliness and accuracyMaintain and update case management systems and confidential recordsDraft, review, and proofread legal correspondence and case reportsCoordinate scheduling of inquests, interviews, and meetings, and ensure all parties are informed of dates and required documentationEnsure compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations relevant to the Coroner's OfficePrepare statistical and casework reports as required by the CoronerFacilitate communication between the Coroner and external agenciesKey Attributes:Minimum two years' experience in a legal environment preferredExcellent organisational, administrative, and IT skillsAbsolute discretion and compassion in dealing with sensitive mattersAbility to prioritise, manage multiple tasks, and work to tight deadlinesHigh standard of written and verbal communicationProactive attitude and ability to work independently and as part of a small teamInterest in public service, legal procedures, and regulatory complianceThird level qualification in legal, business, or relevant discipline (preferred but not essential)Additional Details:Applicants must be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate to PortlaoisePrior legal administrative experience preferableMust answer application questions on transcription skills and familiarity with case management systemsCover note and remuneration expectations required with CVLet me know if you'd like further customization or specific emphasis for this summaryJob Types: Full-time, PermanentPay: From €27,000.00 per yearAbility to commute/relocate:Port Laoise, CO.
