Applications are invited for appointment as Senior Lecturer in Medical Education in the Discipline of Medical Education (DME), Part time (0.4FTE), Permanent post in the School of Medicine, University of Galway.
The Discipline of Medical Education (DME) is one of 14 academic disciplines in the School of Medicine. It comprises staff with a specialist interest in Medical Education, from a diverse range of clinical and non-clinical backgrounds. The DME contributes to and supports the Undergraduate Medical Programme in curriculum development, quality assurance, faculty training in teaching and assessment methodologies, clinical science and practice facilitation, student research, and leadership (module and programme).
The DME also offers postgraduate programmes, including the PG Diploma and MSc in Health Professions’ Clinically Education. Staff contribute to programme delivery, including supervision of masters students conducting research in Health Professions’ Education. The DME is building its doctoral and post‑doctoral research capacity.
This post is suitable for an experienced educator with leadership experience who holds relevant healthcare professional qualifications. The post holder will take a leadership role in the MSc programme in Clinical Education and will contribute to programme delivery, research, and life of DME.
Responsibilities
* Take a leadership role in the MSc programme in Clinical Education.
* Contribute to the delivery of the programme and to the life of the DME through research and community contribution.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experienced educator with leadership experience.
* Holds relevant healthcare professional qualifications.
Details
* Salary: €83,861 to €118,841 pro rata per annum (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011).
* Appointment will be on the Senior Lecturer scale in line with government pay policy and the University’s remuneration policy.
