Our organization is seeking a skilled Speech and Language Therapist to fill a senior role in an acute hospital environment. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with an established and supportive SLT team, providing high-quality care to adult patients with complex communication and swallowing disorders.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments, delivering specialist interventions, and managing a caseload of patients with neurological conditions and dysphagia.
The successful candidate will have excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and teamwork skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, acute hospital setting.
About the Department
The Speech and Language Therapy department delivers a high-quality service to adults across all acute care areas. We provide consistent Videofluoroscopy and FEES services, with a strong emphasis on supervision, mentorship, and continuous professional development.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive assessments and deliver therapy for patients with communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing difficulties.
* Manage a senior caseload including stroke, neurological conditions, progressive disease, and acutely ill elderly patients.
* Deliver specialist dysphagia interventions using evidence-based best practice.
* Work closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure holistic patient care.
* Provide training and education for hospital staff, patients, and families.
* Maintain accurate and timely clinical records; contribute to audits, research, and service improvement projects.
* Participate in supervision and ongoing CPD.
Essential Requirements
* Recognised qualification in Speech & Language Therapy.
* CORU registration (or eligibility).
* Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, with significant clinical practice in an acute hospital setting.
* Dysphagia qualification and substantial acute experience in assessment and management.
* Experience in stroke, neurology, and/or other acute care specialties.
* Excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and teamwork skills.
* Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, acute hospital environment.
