As a key member of the Finance leadership team, the Senior Accountant will provide strategic financial oversight for our client's capital programme and Project Management Office (PMO).
This role ensures robust financial governance, compliance, and reporting for large-scale infrastructure projects, while driving continuous improvement in financial systems and processes.
This role is a 12 month fixed term contract.
Key Responsibilities
To act as a key member of the CFO's team in the execution of the following:
Capital Projects financial oversight
Ensure compliance with EU and state legislation with particular focus on expenditure reporting and procurement compliance.
Provide detail and reporting to satisfy Internal Audit, external audit, EU and IE legislation.
Report on same to internal stakeholders when required, e.g. CFO, CEO and Board.
Capital projects reporting to include areas such as budgets, monthly updates and reporting, forecast reporting and updates.
Presenting the above with a high level of understanding and attention to detail.
Present on a monthly and annual basis or as required by CFO and CEO.
Capital Systems Implementation Projects
Drive continuous improvements to improve ways of working, customisation and process improvements in Capital control and reporting, including new systems implementation, systems upgrades and updates
Work closely with relevant systems teams to maintain systems and troubleshoot issues.
Finance
Provide support to our Finance team in areas of:
Management accounts – Capital Reporting
Annual accounts: Capital disclosures for Annual Report and FS responsibility for timely responses to audit queries (FA and Grants)
Coordinate Capital Budgetary process for DPC.
Other Areas Of Responsibility
Raise and approve purchase order and submit goods receipts when required as appropriate.
Manage contractor invoices and payments for Project Management Office contractors as appropriate.
Work with Internal Audit on actions and recommendations of audits results.
Liaise with Finance on External Audit requirements for Project Management Office.
Attend capital committee meetings and prepare capital projects detail for approval.
Deputise for CFO in Capital meetings as required.
Provide statistics and reporting on an ad-hoc basis to various state authorities.
Any projects / tasks as designated by the CEO and / or CFO.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, CFA.
Minimum 3-5 years\' post qualification experience
Proven experience in financial modelling, investment analysis, and project financing, ideally within the transport, logistics, or infrastructure sectors.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with knowledge of capital modelling and forecasting.
Proficiency in advanced financial tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) and ERP systems.
