Job Title:Recreation Sport & Exercise Science Senior Coach Purpose of Role Reporting to the Recreation Activities Manager, the person is tasked with delivering a range of products including, but not limited to; all tour products, fitness testing, multi-sport program design and delivering training sessions to a variety of customers from high performance teams and elite training groups to exercise rehabilitation programmes and special populations services offered by the Sport Ireland Campus. Role responsibilities: Deliver engaging, safe, and informative sessions for groups of varying ages and fitness levels. Plan and develop training plans for a range of groups and participants. Accurately record, interpret and report on individual and group fitness test results. Provide constructive, age-appropriate feedback and recommendations to participants and group leaders. Oversee the logistical setup and breakdown of testing areas and equipment. Manage databases for a range of products including all primary, secondary, third level and corporate tour products. Oversee and provide ongoing communication with customers and potential customers. Teach classes in group settings as required for a wide variety of athletes and groups, along with special populations and rehabilitation programme patients. Plan and Deliver strength and conditioning programs to a varied range of groups as required. Design, develop and deliver training and support to assist programme delivery for the sports staff of the sport Ireland campus. Design and implement fundamentals of athletic performance / S&C for both recreational camps and sporting academies and educational programs on campus across various sports and all age groups. Increase participation on all tour products across all Sport Ireland Facilities DAC products and services as requested. Ensure that all Sports Ireland Campus processes and procedures are adhered to including NOPs, Emergency Evacuation Procedures etc. Create new product offerings with the support of the Recreation Activities Manager and a wider sports management team. Design and deliver exercise programs for Sport Ireland Facilities DAC Company Wellbeing Initiatives. Develop programs that establish and maintain effective links with schools, colleges, clubs, Governing bodies and other relevant agencies involved in the development and delivery of evidence-based fitness programming. Design and deliver sport science testing services available at Sport Ireland Campus. Engage with all customers in a friendly and professional manner. Meet and greet all customers and potential customers to sell the offering and ensure tests achieve the needs of the customers. Act as the point of contact for parents answering any queries they may have. Review and respond to all online, phone and face to face communications with parents in a timely and professional manner JOBHOLDER ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Knowledge (Education & Related Experience): Third Level qualification (Minimum BSc.) in Sport and Exercise science, Human Performance, Strength and Conditioning or a closely related field. A Postgraduate qualification (MSc or PGDip) in Applied Sport Science, Exercise Physiology, or performance analysis is highly desirable. Proven ability to engage and manage diverse group sizes, including children, adolescents, and adult populations. Strong organisational skills and the ability to deliver structured, high-energy sessions in a time-efficient and safe manner. Minimum 2 years working in delivering sport science services in an applied environment(e.g. schools, sports clubs, academies, fitness centres, or university labs) In depth understanding of excellent customer service Excellent people skills Ability to perform under pressure in a multidisciplinary team. Excellent IT skills in reporting and managing database. Key Skills: Technical Knowledge & Skills: Comprehensive understanding of fitness testing protocols across the major components of health and performance-related fitness, including but not limited to: Aerobic capacity (e.g. Yo-Yo IR Test, VO2 estimation) Anaerobic power (e.g. vertical jump, sprint tests) Muscular strength and endurance (e.g. handgrip, Bench Press, deadlift) Flexibility (e.g. sit-and-reach) Body composition (e.g. skinfolds, bioelectrical impedance) Proficiency in using sport science technology and data collection equipment, including but not limited to: Timing gates Jump mats and force plates Heart rate monitors and GPS units Body composition analysers Manual tools (e.g. stopwatches, callipers, measuring tapes) Strong foundation in statistical analysis and data interpretation, including: Descriptive statistics (mean, median, standard deviation) Comparative statistics (e.g. pre/post comparisons, percent change) Reliability and validity assessment of data Ability to create normative comparisons and percentile rankings Proficiency in data software tools, such as: Microsoft Excel (advanced level, including formulas, pivot tables, graphs) SPSS, R, or other statistical analysis tools (preferred) Familiarity with athlete management systems) is an advantage Communication & Reporting Ability to translate complex data into clear, meaningful insights tailored to different audiences (students, coaches, teachers, parents). Experience creating professional reports and visualisations, including charts, summary tables, and individual feedback reports. Confident presenting data outcomes and delivering feedback in group and one-to-one settings. The position requires clear and concise communication with the Recreation Activities Manager, team coaches and managers, local sports officials, teachers, customers, and the wider community. The ability to communicate positively and effectively both verbally and in writing is essential. The position requires enthusiasm and flexibility with the ability to work independently and at evenings and weekends. Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to meet deadlines and anticipate needs as required. Excellent leadership/supervisory/ organization skills.
