PUNCH Consulting Engineers have an opening for an experienced
Health and Safety Specialist
to work within our Health and Safety team.

The position has presented due to increased workload within our Health and Safety division.
Working directly under the PUNCH Health and Safety division Manager, you will be responsible for managing Health and Safety responsibilities across various projects in the Buildings, Infrastructure and Energy divisions.

The Role:
The role will involve providing construction Health and Safety services across projects in various sectors.
The core duties in this area will include performing the role of Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP), in accordance with the Safety Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 and all subsequent amendments.
In addition to Construction Health and Safety services, the role will include significant involvement in a large strategic energy project of national importance where Health and Safety input will be required in the following areas:
Reviewing existing Client Safety Procedures and developing Safety Philosophy
Implementation of Safety Philosophy
Listing and reviewing Safety Guidelines and Standards
Developing a Technical Safety Management Framework
Implementation of Technical Safety Management Framework
Organising safety campaigns, communicating safety measures and continually monitoring safety performance to ensure continual improvement
Ongoing engagement with the Client and relevant Stakeholders on all safety related matters relevant to the project
Ongoing review of applicable legislation and informing the project team of any upcoming changes that could impact the project and advising of required adjustments to processes or procedures
Qualifications and Experience:
The Health & Safety specialist shall have experience in delivering Health and Safety services on large complex building and infrastructure projects.
Specific requirements shall include:
Experience acting as Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) for large infrastructure projects involving multiple teams and managed contractors.
Have a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
Have a minimum of 10 years' post graduate experience
Prior experience of COMAH Regulations along with experience in other areas including Civil, Structural or Environmental engineering will be an advantage.
Candidate Specification
A sound understanding of the Safety Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 and all subsequent amendments
A sound understanding of COMAH Regulations 2015
Strong report writing capability
Strong acumen to review regulations, guidance documents etc relating to specific industries and concisely summarise applicable requirements
Leadership skills to plan, manage and direct multi-disciplinary teams and managed contractors.
Significant base of IT skills including MS Project, Word, Excel, Power Point, and site monitoring software as used by PUNCH.
Plus the ability to source and use new software to benefit project work.
High level of commercial understanding and application.
A successful track record working closely in partnership with clients, contractors and design teams, as well as Health and Safety Authority.
A positive, proactive approach with an ability to adapt to changing scenarios.
Strong interpersonal/people skills with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
Self-motivated with ability to work in an unstructured environment.
