building services consultancy is offering a senior mechanical engineer the opportunity to step into a key leadership role, overseeing major hospital projects, guiding teams, and accelerating their career growth within a highly respected healthcare design environment.
This role is ideal for a senior engineer who wants to take ownership of flagship healthcare projects while mentoring teams and working closely with clinical and design stakeholders.
The Opportunity
You will lead the mechanical design and delivery of some of Cork's most important hospital developments, including:
* Acute hospital expansions: theatres, ICU, diagnostics and ward facilities
* Decarbonisation and major plant upgrades: central plant, specialist ventilation, heating and cooling systems
* Live hospital refurbishments: complex phased works within active clinical environments
What You Need
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
* Strong experience delivering hospital or healthcare projects
* Deep understanding of HVAC, specialist ventilation, medical gases, critical plant, and infection control
* Knowledge of HTM/HBN and Irish healthcare standards
* Ability to lead multiple projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
* Strong communication, leadership, and client-facing skills
Key Responsibilities
* Lead mechanical design across multiple hospital projects
* Act as technical authority for healthcare mechanical systems
* Oversee projects from concept to commissioning
* Mentor and support junior engineers
* Ensure compliance and manage risks in live hospital environments
