Role Profile Position: Course Tutor: BA in Sports Coaching & Business Management (GAA) & Games Development Officer SETU Carlow Purpose: Oversee the development and delivery of the Gaelic Games components of the BA in Sports Coaching and Business Management (GAA) at SETU Carlow. Responsible for the co-ordination & promotion of Gaelic Games in the college. Reports to: Head of Sport SETU Carlow & Leinster GAA Provincial Games Manager Base: SETU Carlow Campus Duties and Responsibilities include: To work with Head of Sport and GAA Learning & Development Manager at Leinster GAA, in setting out the structure to support the development and delivery of the Player Development and Coach Education strands of the BA in Sports Coaching & Business Management (GAA) at SETU Carlow; Support delivery and assessment of Coach and Player Development modules and take a lead role in delivering Coaching Environment module; To oversee selection (interview process) of students for the BA in Sports Coaching & Business management (GAA); To provide ongoing mentoring and support to the students To work in conjunction with the GAA team at SETU Carlow in enhancing and developing the partnership with the college and in particular the BA in Sports Coaching and Business Management (GAA); Responsible for managing the Sports Science Officer and GAA Development Officer and their duties internal to and external to SETU Carlow; To support SETU Carlow in the development of a high performance unit and establishment of services to support clubs and inter-county teams; To support the preparation and training of SETU Carlow GAA teams; To provide individualised programmes and ongoing support to SETU Carlow GAA players. Liaise with the Coach Education Manager in Leinster GAA on the delivery & support of Provincial Coach Education programs. Essential Criteria: Relevant Third Level Degree (minimum level 8 NFQ); Minimum Award 1 GAA Coaching Qualification; Demonstrable knowledge and experience of best-practice coaching, learning and development strategies and tools. Proven people management skills with proven ability to build and maintain strong business and team relationships, and manage conflict; Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills; Excellent administrative and IT skills with a strong working knowledge of IT related packages and systems; Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written); Ability to work independently on own initiative and perform as part of a team; Strong leadership and decision-making skills; Established ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines; hands-on approach to getting things done with a demonstrable ability to work well under pressure. Desirable Criteria: At least 3 years experience of working in the GAA or similar sporting organisation (Voluntary or Professional Capacity); Clear and detailed knowledge of the GAAs coaching schemes and initiatives; Experience of coaching up to and including senior level; Coaching Ireland tutor qualification.
