We are seeking a Public Policy Manager to join our client—a world-leading tech company—on their Regional Privacy and Proactive Initiative team. This is a full-time, 11-month contract role requiring 40 hours of work per week. The position is hybrid, with 3 days per week onsite at the client's Dublin office.
We’re seeking a candidate who has experience in analyzing and understanding the AI governance and tech policy landscape, and in working with leaders in the public and private sector to help shape it. This role will focus on aligning key expectations of governments and privacy and AI experts from around the globe and our approach to building privacy-protecting products.
A major responsibility of the role is to support the development of global governance of AI products in particular. This will be achieved through the development and delivery of high-profile cross-industry programs and initiatives including our Open Loop program, as well as through tracking and analyzing policy developments and trends across the Regional Privacy & Proactive Initiatives team.
The ideal candidate will have experience in designing and delivering technology policy programs and initiatives for a private or public sector entity. You will possess, and will be able to demonstrate, a solid understanding of the technical, legal and privacy considerations of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, and the current and emerging privacy debates on these topics.
Responsibilities:
* Helps to track and report on key meetings and interactions with our most important policy stakeholders, and supports the communication of insights around trends and signal from these meetings to senior leaders.
* Collaborates with cross-functional teams including regional policy, legal, and communications teams on matters related to advancing the different programs and projects of the Proactive Initiatives team;
* Works on the design, development and deployment of policy prototyping programs across multiple jurisdictions and is willing to travel to support the delivery of these global programs;
* Leads the delivery of policy prototyping programs including the development and deployment of relevant digital collateral (webpages, social media content) and management of external vendors who provide research, event management and other relevant services;
* Reviews and edits reports and actively participates in data analysis and report drafting;
* Builds and maintains relationships with external stakeholders including industry groups, academics, and government organizations to advance our AI policy objectives and build consensus around responsible AI governance and technology practices;
* Communicates effectively about the work of the Regional Privacy Policy and Proactive Initiatives team to internal and external stakeholders so that they can better understand and engage with the work of the team;
* Represents the organisation in public forums and industry events to promote responsible privacy and AI practices and policies.
Minimum Qualifications
* 4+ years of experience working in privacy or public policy environment
* Working knowledge of high-level privacy policy and AI and legislative frameworks and debates
* Experienced collaborator — practiced at bringing large, varied groups along, presenting to complex stakeholder groups and supporting the execution of complex cross-functional team projects
* Experience in helping managers and senior leaders drive highly ambiguous, broad and highly complex topics to extreme clarity of strategy and execution, at pace, in a dynamic environment
