PermanentSummary of the role:This is a senior architecture and design role within a new Ireland‑based team focused on R&D and platform evolution across EXL’s award‑winning Insurance New Business and Servicing platforms.You will play a key role in defining and delivering the end‑to‑end solution architecture, working closely with product, engineering, data, and delivery teams across Ireland, the UK, India, and the United States.The role focuses on translating business and product requirements into scalable, secure, and supportable solution designs aligned to EXL’s reference architectures and technology strategy and where possible to assist the development team in the implementation of frameworks/functionalityYou will define architectural approach across application, integration, data, and cloud domains, ensuring solutions meet functional and non‑functional requirements.This is a hands ‑ on architecture role, combining solution design authority, technical leadership, leadership and customer ‑ facing engagement (including demonstrations and walkthroughs of new capabilities), and pragmatic delivery support to ensure solutions are effectively implementedAs part of your duties, you will be responsible for:Owning solution designs for complex initiatives across insurance new business and servicing workflows, from concept through to delivery and transition into live service.Collaborating with product owners, delivery leads, and engineering teams to shape roadmaps and ensure architectural alignment across programmes and platforms.Defining application, integration, data, and cloud architecture patterns, including microservices, APIs, event‑driven integration, and cloud‑native services.Ensuring solutions comply with architectural standards, security controls, governance expectations, and non‑functional requirements such as performance, resilience, and scalability.Providing architectural guidance to engineering teams during delivery, reviewing designs, and supporting key technical decisions.Contributing to platform and enterprise architecture discussions, identifying opportunities for reuse, simplification, and technical debt reduction.Maintaining strong knowledge of emerging technologies (including AI‑enabled capabilities where relevant) and assessing their suitability within the insurance platform landscape.Defining, owning, articulating, and demonstrating AI ‑ driven and high impact solution capabilities to leadership and customers, providing architectural thought leadership and team mentoring from design through to implementationQualifications and experience we consider to be essential for the role:Proven experience as a Solution Architect or Technical Architect delivering enterprise platforms, ideally within the insurance domain (e.g. Life & Pensions, Life & Annuities, or General Insurance).Strong understanding of insurance new business and/or servicing processes and supporting systems.Experience designing solutions involving policy administration, billing, workflow, rules engines, document and communications management, and reporting platforms.Experience working in complex, distributed delivery environments with on ‑ shore and off ‑ shore teams.Knowledge of cloud ‑ based architectures and modern integration approaches.Educated to degree level in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.Typically 8–12 years’ experience in software engineering and architecture roles, with progression into solution design responsibility.Skills and Personal attributes we would like to have:Strong solution design skills across application, integration, data, and infrastructure layers.Experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and cloud ‑ native architectural patterns.Solid understanding of microservices, APIs, messaging/event ‑ driven architectures, and data integration.Ability to communicate architecture clearly to both technical and non ‑ technical stakeholders, producing high ‑ quality diagrams and design artefacts.Pragmatic, delivery ‑ focused mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.Collaborative approach, comfortable influencing without direct authority.Continuous improvement mentality, with curiosity about emerging technologies including AI ‑ assisted capabilities where they add business
