Finance Operations plays a critical role in this transition, ensuring strong financial control, accurate reporting and robust governance to support effective decision‑making across the business.We are seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Accountant to join Finance Operations. The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, sound professional judgement, and a proactive approach to process improvement and stakeholder engagement. Working closely with internal stakeholders, the Senior Accountant will help ensure financial processes are efficient, compliant, and continuously improving in a complex and evolving operating environment.Thisposition offers the successful candidates the opportunity to work as part of a large finance team. Key priorities for Finance Operations are the delivery of best practice finance processes, digitalisation, delivering business requirements and continued staff development.Key ResponsibilitiesPeriod close, consolidation and reconciliation activities at Group and Business Unit levelCo-ordination of the annual statutory audit process, engagement with external auditors and delivery of outputs to key internal and external stakeholders as requiredDelivery of continuous improvement initiatives and various projects within the Accounting & Reporting functionMonitoring accounting (International Financial Reporting Standards) (IFRS), technical and commercial developments and advising on their impact on the financial close of the GroupResponsibility for overseeing and reviewing accounting and reporting processes, including ensuring that relevant record to report controls are operating effectivelyOverseeing the work of accountants on the teamAddress ad hoc queries and decision support requestsExperience and QualificationsA professional accountancy qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) or equivalent with at least 2 years post qualification experienceHigh level of accounting competency and strong analytical skillsHighly motivated – able to work on own initiative and as part of a teamStrong interpersonal and communication skillsStrong understanding of financial systems and processesLocationThis position will be based in ESB’s Head Office at Fitzwilliam 27, Dublin 2Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week.
