Job Description
The Food Service Worker is responsible for cooking and preparing food according to recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. The Cook should safely handle knives and equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, broilers, etc.
Work schedule: 5 days over 7 days.
Job Responsibilities
* Provide the highest level of customer service and confidentiality, dignity, and respect to all patients at all times, ensuring a pleasant and courteous approach.
* Distribute menus in line with any special modified/therapeutic dietary requirements.
* Prepare patient food & beverage trays in accordance with relevant SOP procedures whilst maintaining the highest levels of hygiene and food safety and ensuring adherence to any specific dietary requirements.
* Deliver food/beverage trays to patients in accordance with relevant SOP whilst maintaining the highest levels of hygiene and food safety.
* Ensure food safety records are accurately completed, adhering to all food hygiene regulations, particularly H.A.C.C.P. regulations.
* Maintain full awareness of allergen information & patient dietary requirements - communicating with your Line Manager and ward personnel where appropriate.
* Collect trays back from patients, ensuring all trays and tray stands are cleaned, washed, and sanitised in accordance with SOPs.
* Ensure cutlery, crockery, jugs, delph, food surfaces, equipment, workstations, etc., are washed, cleaned, and sanitised in accordance with food safety instructions and control measures.
* Record and maintain waste records. Promote and implement all our Health, Safety, and Food Safety policies and procedures.
* Ability to multi-task, handle multiple roles as required, and use initiative as needed: have good organizational skills and work consistently with attention to detail.
* Assist with receiving and putting away store deliveries as required.
* Ensure correct stock rotation procedures are followed, using the FIFO rule.
* Observe infection control and HACCP policies in food handling and storage, ensuring all necessary information is recorded accurately.
* Adhere to the prescribed dress code, always wear task-appropriate PPE, and maintain high personal hygiene.
* Know and follow fire and disaster plans and injury reporting policies.
* Ensure correct manual handling procedures are followed when lifting or moving anything while working.
* Observe the correct use and care of equipment, reporting any defective materials or equipment.
* Comply with all Aramark & hospital policies and procedures.
* Observe confidentiality policies of Aramark & the hospital.
* Participate in training and development programs as required.
* Complete other reasonable duties assigned by your line manager to ensure departmental efficiency.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a catering environment is desirable. On-the-job training will be provided. Must acquire a basic food hygiene qualification within the first six months.
* Knowledge of Food Hygiene including HACCP.
* At least 1 year's experience in a similar environment.
