Main Responsibilities
">
">
* Patrol lakes, rivers, sea, coast, and estuaries to detect and report illegal fishing activities.
">
* Undertake investigative surveys to assess water quality, fish health, spawning, and movement.
">
* Inspect commercial Salmon and Sea Trout licence holders, recreational anglers, and issue Fixed Penalty Notices when necessary.
">
* Gather evidence, provide reports, and participate in legal proceedings as required.
">
* Contribute to habitat improvement schemes, improve fisheries access, and develop infrastructure.
">
* Conduct research survey work, monitor scientific data, and participate in electro-fishing and netting.
">
* Catch, measure, examine, and release fish to assess their health.
">
">
Key Qualifications and Skills
">
">
* Leaving Certificate (Level 5 NFQ) or equivalent qualification.
">
* Full Category B driving license valid in Ireland.
">
* No convictions under Irish Fisheries Legislation.
">
* Eligible to work in the State.
">
* Fluent English - spoken and written.
">
* Good computer skills, including MS Office.
">
* Reside close to base location for call-out purposes.
">
* Competent in and on the water (at sea and in lakes/rivers).
">
* Demonstrates a strong interest in promoting, protecting, and conserving natural resources.

Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a salary scale at the level of Fisheries Officer, as applicable in Inland Fisheries Ireland. An unsocial hour's allowance will be payable based on the number of unsocial hours worked.
