The Role:
We are seeking a suitable candidate for the position of a Proposals Manager, reporting to the Group Commercial Director. The Head of Proposals will play a key role in this growth ambition by taking responsibility for coordinating and delivering winning bids for the business in line with group expectations for growth. The role requires a strategic thinker with strong commercial intuition. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The main duties and responsibilities of the Head of Proposals, Industrial UK & Ireland include:
* Managing opportunities from prequalification through to contract award, including identifying value propositions and win themes
* Developing winning commercial strategies
* Managing quality/technical and price submissions
* Contract review and risk management, clarifications, customer interviews
* Ensuring the quality and standard of all bid submissions, maximizing technical and commercial marks
* Ensuring timely delivery of compliant and commercially sound bids
* Achieving a win rate and backlog in line with company expectations
* Targeting and analyzing leads and opportunities to align bidding activity with group strategy and backlog goals
* Managing all pre-contract activities and acting as a senior point of contact for customer procurement teams and key partners/supply chain during the bid process
* Challenging design/estimating teams to bring value into the bid
* Ensuring optimal value from the supply chain
* Managing bid qualification (go/no-go) processes and making recommendations
* Coordinating inputs from stakeholders, including design and project delivery teams
* Developing and structuring an industry-leading proposals team
* Preparing and reviewing the commercial aspects of bids, ensuring all services are included in the final price
* Providing input into business strategy and development
* Managing the department budget
* Resolving complex technical, strategic, and business issues
* Implementing continuous improvement processes, including post-bid reviews
* Overseeing post-contract award processes and handover to delivery teams
* Supporting business development activities, including client meetings and presentations
* Reviewing and improving bid procedures and governance processes
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
* Minimum 10 years proven experience delivering successful bids for major construction projects in the industrial sector
* Background in the Irish and/or UK water sector and experience managing bids from opportunity identification to submission
* Track record in providing leadership on opportunity identification, win strategies, and solution design
* Familiarity with the competitive marketplace
* Excellent presentation and customer-facing skills
* Exceptional commercial intuition and risk management skills
* Ability to manage complex, multi-workstream opportunities
* Experience in process and procedure improvements for efficiency
* Degree in Engineering or Quantity Surveying
