The Role:
Uisce Éireann IT (UÉ IT) provides IT services, project delivery and support to the wider Uisce Éireann business, and its user base. One of its core objectives is the adoption of AI across the business to drive efficiencies and support balanced score card objectives.
The team that this role will work with is responsible for:
AI Use Case Delivery - Impactful Use Cases with business value across Uisce Éireann.
Microsoft Copilot Adoption - Operationalisation, Training & Upskilling.
Ensuring AI alignment across Uisce Éireann and an AI communications strategy, plan & implementation.
Preventing a shadow IT experience (unsecure inconsistent solutions) across Uisce Éireann for AI.
Laying the foundations for an AI roadmap and AI future capability.
Reporting to the UET IT Transition Senior Manager, the AI Technical Lead is responsible for helping to drive the adoption and integration of advanced AI technologies across Uisce Éireann. They will ensure adoption aligns with the organisation's AI strategy, ensure responsible and secure AI deployment, and maximise the value of digital transformation initiatives.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Assist with the enterprise-wide rollout of Microsoft Copilot, ensuring adoption across all business units and managing long-term funding, support, and sustainability.
* Help execute a Copilot training and upskilling program tailored for end-users, IT teams, and business leaders.
* Assist on developing and implementing an AI use-case delivery framework, integrating with existing BAU IT Change and Business Change processes to accelerate implementation.
* Collaborate with IT stakeholders and business units to identify, prioritise, and deliver targeted AI solutions that drive measurable business value.
* Help enforce the agreed AI governance framework to prevent shadow IT and ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory standards.
* Implement an AI communications strategy, including internal campaigns, stakeholder updates, and adoption metrics reporting.
* Ensure alignment of AI initiatives with organisational strategy, coordinating across departments to maintain consistency and avoid duplication.
* Monitor and evaluate AI adoption and performance, using KPIs and feedback loops to inform continuous improvement.
* Assist in laying the foundation for future AI capabilities, including roadmap development, technology assessments, and skill gap analysis.
* Champion best practices for AI integration, ensuring scalability, security, and interoperability within the enterprise IT architecture.
* Manage vendor relationships and external partnerships related to AI tools and services to optimize cost and performance.
* Provide thought leadership on emerging AI trends, advising senior management on opportunities and risks for Uisce Éireann.
* Other duties as required.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
* Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business
* Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards
* Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives
* Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann's Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation
* Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
* Relevant third level qualification and or accreditation is desirable and or relevant experience.
* 5 years' relevant experience with a minimum of 3 years in a management or stakeholder engagement role in an environment similar in size and complexity to Uisce Éireann.
* Experience in developing easy to understand and visually impactful PowerBI dashboards is required.
* Experience in establishing and managing a large reporting capability, delivering complex reporting requirements to multiple stakeholders will be an advantage.
* Experience of developing and maintaining effective strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and facilitating the implementation and acceptance of change within the workplace.
* Exposure to multiple, diverse technical configurations, technologies, and processing environments.
* Ability to translate strategic priorities into operational reality, demonstrating strong decision-making skills.
* Demonstrated adaptability and the ability to change focus and direction in line with business strategy and requirements.
* Proven ability to think strategically and maintain strategic focus while operating across multiple functional areas and in a constantly changing environment.
