Job Description
The Product Line Finance Controller is a key finance partner for the Medical Assemblies Product Line who will provide end‑to‑end financial analysis and decision support. This role partners closely with Product Management, Product Costing and Engineering to drive profitable growth through robust analysis and forward‑looking insights. The role requires a deep analytical capability, strong business partnering skills, and accountability for translating complex financial data into clear, actionable recommendations at the product line level.
Key Responsibilities
Product Line Financial Performance
Own and analyse monthly financial performance for the product line, including revenue, standard margin and gross margin.
Prepare and explain monthly and quarterly variances versus forecast, clearly articulating commercial and operational drivers.
Prepare product line financial summaries for reviews with finance and business leadership.
Planning & Forecasting
Support quarterly forecasts for the product line, ensuring alignment with the Plant Controllers for volume, mix, pricing, and cost assumptions.
Clearly communicate to leadership what actions need to be achieved to deliver commitments and establish metrics & cadence to track progress.
Prepare product line financial summaries for reviews with finance and business leadership.
Product Costing & Margin Analysis
Support and challenge product costing accuracy for the annual recost, including BOMs, routings, labor standards, and overhead assumptions, in partnership with the Plant Controllers.
Support annual standard cost updates and in‑year cost maintenance for the product line.
Provide margin insights to support product portfolio decisions, trade‑offs, and prioritization.
Provide financial support for NPI, product changes, and lifecycle management decisions.
Project Costing & ROI Analysis
Review value propositions for new opportunities and challenge cost and investment assumptions to create the best possible business case.
Review ongoing business cases for active engineering projects to ensure launching on target cost and target investment. Steer project team to deliver commitments.
Cost Improvement & Value Creation
Track cost reduction, productivity, and margin improvement initiatives linked to the product line, particularly where they are linked to price erosion.
Track realization of savings and ensure benefits are reflected in forecasts and plans.
Cross‑Functional Business Partnering
Act as a key finance partner to Product Management, Product Costing and Engineering.
Translate financial outcomes into clear business implications to enable faster, better decision‑making.
Contribute to continuous improvement of product line reporting, analytics, and finance processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
8+ years of experience in product finance, manufacturing finance, or commercial finance roles.
Strong working knowledge of product costing, margin analysis, and financial forecasting.
Experience operating in a cross‑functional, matrixed environment.
Advanced Excel skills to synthesize complex data into clear, executive‑ready insights.
Systems knowledge of ERP – SAP (preferred), HFM, analysis tools.
