Job description

Electrical/Commissioning Engineer

As a specialized subsidiary of VINCI Energies, Omexom delivers turnkey solutions for the construction and operation of ground-mounted and floating solar power plants, as well as grid connection substations for renewable energy.

Joining us means being part of a human-scale, agile company with a true entrepreneurial spirit, while enjoying the strength and support of a large international group — flexibility, mobility, and real involvement in strategic decision-making.

In line with our expanding operations in Ireland, we are looking for an Electrical & Commissioning Engineer to join our engineering team. You will play a key role throughout the project lifecycle, from electrical system design to on-site commissioning and grid connection.

Context

Working within our EPC teams on solar PV construction sites, as an Electrical & Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, validation, and commissioning of electrical systems on solar PV projects. You will realize the engineering studies and provide technical leadership during the final testing and energization phases on-site.

You will work closely with design, procurement, construction, and HSE teams to ensure the technical integrity and operational readiness of all electrical systems. You will report to the Project Manager and collaborate closely with design, HSE, and commissioning teams.

Missions

Engineering & Design (Engineering Phase)

* Design electrical systems for solar PV plants (LV/MV AC systems and DC arrays)
* Define technical specifications for electrical components: inverters, transformers, switchgear, cabling, SCADA, etc.
* Perform cable sizing, single-line diagrams, and layout plans using engineering software (e.g. AutoCAD, PVCase, PVSyst, CableIzer, ETAP,…)
* Support procurement team with technical evaluation of suppliers
* Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with grid codes and standards (IEC, EN, Irish Grid Code : ESB or Eirgrid)

Commissioning & Site Supervision (Execution Phase)

* Prepare commissioning plans, test procedures, and inspection checklists
* Supervise and perform on-site commissioning of electrical systems and equipment (LV/MV, protection systems, SCADA, etc.)
* Conduct functional and performance tests, including grid compliance verification
* Troubleshoot issues during commissioning and propose corrective actions
* Liaise with grid operators for energization and final approval
* Ensure documentation, reports, and commissioning dossiers are complete and aligned with project requirements

Profile :

* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
* Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical design and/or commissioning in the energy, power, or renewable sectors
* Strong knowledge of electrical system design, power distribution, and protection principles
* Familiar with PV technologies, inverters, SCADA systems, and MV equipment
* Capable of working both in an office environment (design phase) and on-site (commissioning phase)
* Familiarity with international electrical standards and grid compliance requirements
* Excellent problem-solving and coordination skills
* Fluent in English – both spoken and written
