We are looking for a driven, innovative and motivated individual, who is willing to work hard and be a team player, to join our Printing Team.
Role / Responsibilities / Requirements:
* Strong understanding of flexographic printing processes, materials, and equipment.
* Experience with Gallus ECS machinery is highly desirable but Flexo experience will do.
* Set up and operate print machinery to optimum levels in a safe working manner, ensuring that the machinery and surrounding area are maintained in line with required health, safety, environmental, hygiene and housekeeping standards
* Deliver and proactively monitor and control print quality.
* Proven experience as a Flexographic Printer or Strong background in manufacturing, either label or packaging printing
* Carry out print inspections and troubleshoot issues with the printing press or print quality.
* Specifically, identify all non-conformities and correct deficiencies by liaising with the Shift Manager. Seek additional guidance from colleagues in Technical and Quality when required.
* Maintain lean manufacturing principles.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within Production.
* Complete all paperwork and electronic data in a timely manner.
* Complete shift handovers, ensuring the press is in an appropriate operational condition and that the next shift has been briefed on where production is up to and any other relevant production issues.
* Ensure you are on plan and have the next job ready and waiting for your next colleagues on shift - minimise machine downtime between shifts by making full use of the eXact Spectro and IFS6.
* Work with Pre-make ready to optimise colour matching time.
* Collaborate with colleagues in other areas e.g. Print Support & Engineering to maintain production standards.
* Display flexibility to support other areas of Production as and when required.
* Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
* Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Flexibility to work shifts and overtime as required.
Duties
* Identifying and obtaining the plates, job bag, dies and inks to be used on each job by referring to the Works Instruction.
* Conduct any pre-press operations as required.
* Setting and running the Press at optimum speed to achieve required efficiency targets whilst ensuring the maintenance of acceptable quality standards.
* Ensuring that 'first off' approval is conducted as per the Quality Procedures.
* Checking the quality of printing and cutting on a regular basis and correcting faults detected.
* Tagging reels appropriately, identifying reason for faults and quarantining reject work.
* Inputting onto the shop floor data system.
* At the end of a run wash-up press, clean rollers and plates, etc.
* Compliance with Health & Safety regulations and all relevant procedures required by the company, including Hygiene, Pharmaceutical, Quality, Chain of Custody, and Environmental Standards.
* Maintaining a clean and tidy work environment (clean and maintain machines, ensure all anilox and presses are clean and ready for use) and completing associated documentation
Essential
* Printing Qualification (e.g. NVQ or equivalent)
* Previous experience as a printer post qualification (Flexo, Litho or Letterpress)
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight production deadlines
* Experience of checking quality of print for colour variation
* Excellent colour differentiation skills
* Good attention to detail
* Methodical approach with the ability to work on own initiative
