About the roleAs a Senior Hydrologist in the Environmental Department at ORS, you will apply your expertise in hydrological assessment, flood risk analysis, and water-related data interpretation to support sustainable planning and development projects. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust environmental consultancy services, including detailed flood risk and hydrology assessments for planning and compliance purposes. Your role will involve contributing to technical reports, modelling, and stakeholder engagement to ensure projects meet regulatory and sustainability standards. ORS's Environmental team delivers high-quality, science-led solutions that help clients navigate complex environmental challenges across Ireland.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct hydrological and hydrogeological assessments to inform environmental impact assessments, planning applications and compliance documentation.Lead the preparation of technical reports, including flood risk assessments (e.g., Stage 1, Stage 2 SSFRA) and water environment chapters for EIARs and other statutory submissions.Collect, analyse and interpret hydrometric, meteorological, GIS and modelling data to assess surface water, groundwater and catchment behaviour.Undertake fieldwork and hydrological monitoring, coordinate data acquisition, and support the delivery of sustainable drainage and water resource planning solutions.Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams (ecologists, engineers, planners) and engage with clients, authorities and stakeholders to ensure robust environmental outcomes. Essential RequirementsBachelor's degree in Hydrology, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Geography, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.Strong analytical skills with practical experience in hydrological and hydraulic modelling tools, GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS), and data analysis.Understanding of relevant Irish/EU water and environmental legislation, flood risk assessment methodologies, and environmental impact assessment processes.Excellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, teamwork mindset, and commitment to quality technical delivery.
