Purpose of the RoleThe post holder will be a senior strategic and operational support for the Infection Prevention and Control agenda across Children's Health Ireland.They will be a clinical expert in the field of IPC.They will practice at an advanced clinical level and exercise high levels of judgement, discretion and decision-making.The post holder will work with a high level of autonomy, acting as a representative for Children's Health Ireland on external group/advisory bodies as required.Eligible applicantswill be those who on the closing date for the competition:(i) Are registered, or are eligible for registration, in the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann).AND(ii) Must have at least 7 years post registration experience of which 3 must be in the specialty of infection prevention & control at a minimum of CNM 2/Clinical Nurse Specialist 2 or equivalent in the acute healthcare environment. (It is desirable that this experience is in the area of paediatrics.)AND(iii) Have successfully completed a post registration programme of study, as certified by the education provider, which verifies that the applicant has achieved a National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major academic Level 8 or higher award maintained by Quality & Qualifications of Ireland (QQI) or can provide written evidence from the Higher Education Institute that they have achieved the number of ECTS credits equivalent to a Level 8 or higher in Infection Prevention & ControlAND(iv) Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development.AND(b) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and clinical, leadership, managerial and administrative capacity for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.2.
