Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon

Greystones Veterinary Practice, Co. Wicklow

Are you an enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon looking for a fantastic practice with excellent facilities? How does no OOH and no on call sound? Here at Greystones Vets, based just 25 minutes south of Dublin, we have an opportunity for you…

Greystones Veterinary is a two-branch practice, one based in Greystones and the other in Bray. Established in 1992, we have a loyal customer base and are an integral part of the community.

We're a fantastic friendly team consisting of 4 RVNs, and two ACAs. There are four senior vets who work in the practice currently, one with certificates in Anaesthesiology. Our two most senior vets (20+ years' experience) are very proficient and knowledgeable and are happy to guide and support less experienced colleagues.

"I would not want to work anywhere else" – a recent quote from one of nurses.

The Role:

This is a full-time role based at our Greystones Branch though we can be flexible on hours for the right candidate, you'll work 4-days per week and 1 in 3 weekends (32hr -38hr (incl. weekend)).

There's no OOH and no on call to allow for a great work-life balance. Early shifts are 8:30 – 5 and late shifts 10 – 7.

Salary of €70,000 p/a pro rata.

There's opportunity to gain further experience in small animal medicine and surgery with a varied caseload. Hands on use of available equipment (IM3 dental machine, CR radiography, Endoscopy) to build diagnostic and treatment skillset. Support in pursuing specific areas of interest through funded CPD.

What you'll be doing:

First opinion consultations for routine and preventative healthcare, follow-ups, case work up. Performing routine surgeries (neutering, lump removal, dentals) and the occasional advanced procedures depending on experience. Diagnostic workups including radiography, ultrasound, lab testing and developing treatment plans.

You'll build strong relationships with our fantastic clients through clear communication and compassion and provide guidance on preventative medicine whilst also supporting during critical and end of life care decisions.

There's potential to take lead role in certain clinical areas plus involvement in practice development and shaping of clinical protocols.

So, who are we looking for?

We understand that no two days in practice are the same, so we're looking for someone who's compassionate, empathetic and able to work collaboratively with nursing colleagues, and other veterinary surgeons in practice whilst also happy working independently.

You'll be confident in both consultations and performing routine Small Animal Surgeries.

Our ideal candidate will be open to rota cover and excited to encourage practice improvement through CPD, discussing cases, and mentoring when appropriate.

A little bit about the area:

Greystones is a coastal town just south of Bray. It's informally known for its sea swimming culture, numerous coffee shops and laid-back atmosphere. It is about 25 minutes (often less) from Dublin city using the M50. It is serviced by the DART and numerous bus routes. These are both fairly frequent and many members of the team commute this way with little issue. There is also the potential for free parking at the practice.

As part of the VetPartners family, there's some fantastic benefits on offer:

* Enhanced Annual Leave
* Full access to EAP and Healthshield
* Employer pension contributions
* Generous CPD allowances
* Colleague discounts
* Paid VCI/VDS and an additional professional membership
* Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave
* Career progression prospects for the ideal candidate

So, if this sound like the practice you've been looking for, get in touch today and let us know what your dream job looks like
