Job Summary:
Reporting to the Project Manager, we currently have a vacancy for a Civils General Operative / Groundworker. This position plays a vital role in supporting civil engineering projects by assisting with a wide range of tasks on construction sites.
Responsibilities
Assist with excavation, trenching, ducting and backfilling for foundations, utilities, roads, and drainage systems.
Support the laying of drainage pipes, ducts, and manholes.
Chamber install and reinstatement
Excavation around Live services
Handle and prepare materials such as concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and other construction resources.
Dig, level, and compact ground to prepare sites for construction or roadworks.
Clear construction sites of debris, rubble, and other waste materials.
Operate construction plant and machinery such as mini excavators, dumpers, rollers, and power tools (under supervision or as trained).
Set up and maintain site safety signage, barriers, and fencing to ensure the safety of workers and the public.
Help implement traffic management plans for safe vehicle and pedestrian movement around the construction site.
Support the maintenance of safe working practices by following site-specific safety rules and guidelines.
Perform general labouring tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying, and moving materials as required

Essential experience necessary:
Previous experience working in civil engineering, construction, or a related field.
Basic knowledge of civil engineering construction techniques (groundworks, drainage, concrete).
Ability to operate manual tools and small machinery safely.
Understanding of construction site health and safety regulations and procedures.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
Experience with utility installations (e.g., water, gas, electric) or roadworks.
Knowledge of traffic management and safety procedures
Awareness of working on public roads and traffic management requirements
Required Qualifications:
Solas Safe Pass
Full Category B Irish driver's license
Manual Handling
Desired experience which would be an advantage:
MEWP, Tower Scaffold, Abrasive Wheels Cards
Category C Irish driver's license/ trailer license
Electrical awareness training
HIAB experience
Abrasive Wheels training
Signing, Lighting & Guarding
SLG Card
CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card or equivalent certification
