Job Title:


Ecological Consultant

We are seeking an experienced Ecological Consultant to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in ecology and a proven track record of delivering high-quality ecological consultancy services.

* Key Responsibilities:
* Manage individual contracts to deliver high-quality ecological consultancy services, ensuring timely delivery and meeting client expectations.
* Provide expert ecological input for a range of projects, including construction environmental management plans, biodiversity chapters, and other environmental reporting requirements.
* Plan, conduct, and supervise the execution of site ecological surveys and fieldwork, ensuring data quality and accuracy.
* Prepare and monitor the implementation of Construction Environmental Management Plans, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
* Undertake Appropriate Assessments and Ecological Impact Assessments (EIAs), preparing technical reports and other deliverables.
* Write high-quality technical reports and other deliverables, communicating complex ecological concepts effectively.
* Manage quality, ensuring attention to detail and accuracy, timely delivery, and continuous improvement of work produced by the Ecology Team.
* Provide expert witness at Oral Hearings, presenting evidence and defending opinions in a clear and confident manner.
* Develop excellent relationships with clients, attending meetings and design teams as required, fostering collaboration and effective communication.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

* A degree in ecology or a related subject is essential, along with a minimum of 10 years postgraduate experience in environmental consultancy.
* Membership of CIEEM, CIWEM, or equivalent professional bodies is highly desirable.
* Experience in the oral hearing process and role of expert witness is crucial.
* Detailed knowledge of wildlife and conservation legislation within Ireland is necessary.
* Excellent technical report writing skills, communication, organisational, and project management skills are essential.
* A full clean driving licence is also required.
