Business Information Security Officer – Barclays
Join Barclays as a Business Information Security Officer and lead the evolution of our digital landscape, driving innovation and operational excellence. In this role, you will provide cyber information security support to the business as BISO within Barclays Europe, taking responsibility for managing and overseeing the business cyber risk posture, providing cyber incident support, including leading first line cyber incident management engagement for the business unit within Barclays Europe and identifying and escalating regulatory reporting requirements. You will be offering regulatory assistance and engaging with key stakeholders across the Barclays Europe business.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaboration with stakeholders to understand their security requirements in business processes and IT projects, to enhance overall risk management.
* Execution of risk assessments to identify and prioritise potential cyber threats that could impact the bank’s operations and data, and guide the implementation of mitigation strategies.
* Development and implementation of security policies and procedures for the bank’s operations aligned to the risk management framework.
* Management of implementation, testing and monitoring of security controls across the bank’s IT systems.
* Execution of training content and sessions to educate employees on safe online practices.
* Management of complex cyber incidents by collaborating with IT teams and response experts.
* Identification of emerging cyber trends, threats, and new technologies to address risks by adopting new security solutions.
* Support reporting of risk exposure and control maturity against the relevant policies and standards.
* Support cyber intelligence engagement strategies with public‑private partnerships and develop external intelligence stakeholder relationships.
Vice President Expectations
* Contribute to strategy, drive requirements, and make recommendations for change; manage resources, budgets, and policies.
* Act as a subject matter expert within own discipline and guide technical direction.
* Advise key stakeholders, including senior management, on cross‑functional impact and alignment.
* Manage and mitigate risks through assessment and governance.
* Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls.
* Develop a comprehensive understanding of the supported business unit and foster an effective information security culture.
* Provide expert‑level cyber security briefings and stakeholder management tailored for Barclays Europe executive leadership.
* Deliver specialised cyber security expertise to external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies.
* Excellent proficiency in IT productivity applications.
Qualifications
* Strong financial services background with significant experience in cyber information security, ideally with exposure to Markets or Investment Banking.
* Deep technical expertise across cybersecurity and technical domains, enabling effective engagement with engineering teams.
* Extensive experience in implementing or managing cyber information security risk management processes and tools.
* Strong critical thinking and analytical skills; demonstrated experience in cyber information security field, including systems audit, internal controls, and/or security consulting.
* In‑depth knowledge of regulatory landscape in Ireland and EU, including legislation and regulations governing cyber information security.
* Preferred certifications: CISM, CISSP, or similar recognised standards.
* Background in networking or cloud technologies.
