Overview

The IBTS is recruiting the full-time, specified purpose post of Quality Scientist; based in the National Blood Centre, James’s Street, Dublin 8. This is an exciting role within the Quality Testing Department in the IBTS; the post-holder will become part of a motivated team of scientists involved in the testing of blood products, reagents and materials to ensure compliance with various guidelines and standards. The department uses multiple methods to perform the required tests including haematology analysers, flow cytometers, blood gas analysers, coagulation instruments, red cell serology methods and pH/conductivity meters.


Responsibilities

Careers details include working in the Quality Testing Department to test blood products, reagents and materials, ensuring compliance with guidelines and standards. The post-holder will operate and support methods and instruments used for testing as part of a collaborative team.


Qualifications

* Bachelor of Science (BSc) in a relevant biological science; or equivalent.
* At least 12 months experience of working in a biological, Quality Control or Materials Laboratory, in a healthcare or pharmaceutical setting.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrating an ability to work in and promote teamwork in a demanding environment.
* Flexible approach to work in a demand driven environment, demonstrating enthusiasm and a willingness to co-operate.
* Good IT skills including good working knowledge of Excel.
* Demonstration of GxP process experience.
* Experience working with laboratory instruments (e.g. haematology analyser; flow cytometers; blood gas analyser; pH/conductivity meters).


Salary and Benefits

The salary scale attached to the post is the RPAL Scientist scale: €42,742 to €67,796 (inc. LSI) pro-rata per annum. Entry point onto the salary scale is dependent upon relevant experience.
