THE ROLE OF A DANCE AND DRAMA TEACHER
We are seeking an outstanding and passionate Dance and Drama Teacher to join our team from August 2025. The successful candidate will teach performing arts across the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and into the Middle Years Programme (MYP), creating inspiring learning experiences that celebrate movement, voice, expression, and storytelling.
Key Responsibilities Include
* Delivering engaging and inclusive dance and drama lessons that support the developmental needs of students across a range of ages and abilities.
* Planning and implementing curriculum units in alignment with IB frameworks, particularly PYP transdisciplinary learning and MYP arts objectives.
* Encouraging creative expression, collaboration, and critical reflection in performance-based activities.
* Supporting students' social-emotional development through creative and embodied learning approaches.
* Organising and contributing to school-wide performances, showcases, trips, and extra-curricular arts programmes.
* Collaborating with colleagues to support cross-curricular learning and contribute to a whole-school arts culture.
* Building strong, respectful relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
* Actively participating in the wider life of the school, including House events, assemblies, and community initiatives.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
* Holds a Bachelor's degree in Dance, Drama, Performing Arts, or a closely related field, with a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
* Has at least 5 years of successful teaching experience, ideally in IB or international school settings.
* Brings deep subject knowledge and creative energy to the classroom.
* Demonstrates a passion for the performing arts and a commitment to nurturing young performers.
* Confidently uses technology to enhance learning and integrate digital elements into performance.
* Engages in reflective practice and continuous professional development.
* Possesses excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
* Embraces diversity and brings cultural sensitivity to teaching and team interactions.
* (For Head of Department consideration): Proven leadership skills and experience developing arts curricula, coaching teachers, and building a collaborative team culture.
