A leading manufacturing organisation within the green technology sector is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead its sawmilling operation in Fermoy.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Plant Manager will have full responsibility for Production, Maintenance and SHEQ, driving operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement while delivering against strategic and commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and promote a strong safety-first culture across the site.
Overall responsibility for Production, Maintenance, and SHEQ performance.
Develop and deliver production plans aligned with forestry supply and sales demand.
Manage site performance against budget and KPIs.
Drive efficiency, standardisation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Build strong working relationships with other sites where production is interdependent.
Lead, develop, and engage site teams in partnership with HR.
Chair regular production and performance meetings.
Contribute to group-wide production strategy, capital investment, and NPD projects.
Ensure smooth end-to-end operations from log intake through primary and secondary processing.
Skills & Experience
Degree-qualified in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations or similar (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 5 years' experience as a Plant or Site Manager (sawmilling or heavy manufacturing advantageous).
Strong knowledge of SHEQ standards and regulatory compliance.
Proven experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
Strong leadership, decision-making and people development capability.
Commercially focused with strong organisational and communication skills.
Resilient, adaptable and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
