Ergo are seeking a Principal Platform Architect for a contract opportunity in Dublin. Working for an international Analytics company you will be responsible for the modernisation of an existing application platform to enable future growth.Designing application and infrastructure architecture the successful candidate will define and guide the future-state application platform architecture, bridging software architecture, AWS cloud infrastructure, and DevOps engineering practices.This is a hybrid role with long-term potential.What will you do?Define the target application architecture aligned to modular / service-oriented principlesEstablish service boundaries and ownership models across engineering teamsGuide incremental evolution from monolithic patterns toward modular servicesDefine internal vs external API standards (e.g., REST external, gRPC internal)Own / shape AWS account and environment structures (landing zones, multi-account patterns)Define standards for networking, identity & access, security boundaries and observabilityStandardise CI/CD pipelines, release workflows and environment promotion pathsImprove automation maturity, including GitOps and Infrastructure as CodeEnsure auditability, logging and traceability across servicesProvide architectural leadership, mentoring and cross-team enablementWe are looking for someone with the following skills:Strong experience designing and delivering distributed systems on AWSDemonstrated platform modernisation experience (incremental migration)Deep DevOps capability (CI/CD, GitOps, Terraform/IaC)Strong understanding of containerisation and orchestration (Docker, ECS/EKS)Strong API architecture and governance experienceExcellent stakeholder management and technical leadership skillsYou should have experience in the following technologies:Docker, TerraformECS and/or EKSPython / DjangoObservability tooling (logging/metrics/tracing)
