Job Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Senior Scientist to join our Cell Therapy team in Galway. This is a lab-based position for a scientist who thrives on hands-on experimental work while contributing to the development and scale-up of cutting-edge cell therapy products.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments to support upstream and downstream process development for cell therapy manufacturing.
* Perform hands-on laboratory work, including cell culture, media preparation, process optimization, and in-process testing.
* Develop and refine analytical methods for product characterization and release testing.
* Support the transfer of processes from development into GMP manufacturing settings.
* Collaborate with Contract Development and Manufacturing Organizations (CDMOs) and internal teams to ensure smooth tech transfer.
* Document and present experimental data clearly and accurately.
* Generate high-quality technical reports, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) documentation for regulatory submissions.
* Ensure lab activities comply with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and health & safety standards.
* Work closely with the Head of Cell Therapy, Quality, and Research and Development (R&D) teams to align development activities with program timelines.
* Provide scientific insight and contribute to problem-solving across projects.
* Mentor junior scientists and technicians as the team grows.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cell Biology, Biotechnology, Bioprocessing, or related discipline.
* 5–8 years' experience in cell therapy, biologics, or bioprocess development.
* Strong hands-on skills in mammalian cell culture, aseptic technique, and bioprocess development.
* Familiarity with analytical methods (e.g., flow cytometry, ELISA, quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR), microscopy).
* Experience with Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) environments preferred.
* Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
* Enthusiastic about lab work and eager to contribute at the bench while supporting broader Cell Therapy goals.
