Work Description:
The Baker is responsible for preparing and baking a wide range of baked goods including bread, pastries, cakes, cookies, and other bakery items. This role requires a strong understanding of baking techniques, recipe adherence, food safety standards, and time management to ensure high-quality products are delivered consistently.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and bake a variety of bakery products such as breads, rolls, cakes, muffins, cookies, pies, and pastries.
* Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes or product specifications.
* Operate and maintain baking equipment including ovens, mixers, proofers, and dough sheeters.
* Monitor baking processes to ensure proper quality, appearance, and consistency.
* Decorate cakes and pastries as needed.
* Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and hygiene procedures.
* Maintain inventory of baking ingredients and supplies; report shortages or place orders as needed.
* Clean and sanitize baking equipment, tools, and work areas regularly.
* Assist in the development of new recipes or seasonal menu items.
* Ensure all products meet company standards for freshness, taste, and presentation.
* Work collaboratively with other kitchen or bakery staff to ensure timely production and delivery.
* Adhere food and hygiene protocols with all records up to date.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a baker or relevant role.
* Knowledge of baking techniques and food safety regulations.
* Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently.
* Time management and organizational skills.
* Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy bags or trays.
* Creativity and attention to detail, especially in decoration.
* Formal culinary or baking education is a plus but not always required.
Working Conditions:
* Early morning shifts, weekends, and holidays may be required.
* Work in hot environments near ovens and mixers.
* May involve standing for long hours and handling heavy equipment.
