Ability West provides a wide range of high-quality services to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism across Galway City and County. Services provided include day, residential, short breaks, community supports, rehabilitative training, and multi-disciplinary supports. The Role:
* Provide, under direction, instruction in areas such as arts, crafts, social skills, woodwork, cookery, horticulture, and independent living skills, tailored to the preferences and abilities of the people supported.
* Instruct on courses that develop specific skills, social development, personal care, and community integration.
* Work as part of a team, with flexible duties that may overlap and interrelate.
* Establish and maintain respectful and equitable relationships with the people supported, promoting their independence.
Essential Criteria:
* Experience supporting individuals who may present behaviors that challenge.
* Ability to instruct in all programmes offered at Day Centres.
* Full, current driving license.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Strong problem-solving skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
This is a 30-hour/week contract.
