This role will be key in defining and refining migration and modernisation strategies/patterns including the creation of playbooks. The key element of the IT modernisation strategy will be drive by improving the delivery flow of IT business requirements, to work with product development teams to migrate workloads from the legacy WebLogic deployment platform, reduce costs and technical debt while gaining the process improvements and modern capabilities across the new strategic platform, OpenShift
Role : must-haves:
Experience of building and deploying Java EE applications using different historical frameworks (such as Struts, AngularJS, Spring, JSP and JSF). This experience should run through to the modern era with Angular, Spring Boot and/or Quarkus.
Experience of Java persistence technologies such as Hibernate, JDBC and JPA
Proven familiarity with the concepts and the implications of containerisation and/or enterprise Kubernetes and migrating legacy monolithic applications to images/containers
Experience of implementing OIDC and OAuth2 for identity and access management on Java application servers such as WebLogic, WildFly/JBoss and Tomcat.
Solid working knowledge of RESTful APIs
Key Experience
Practical knowledge of building well engineered software systems that adhere to highly cohesive, loosely coupled and secure by design
Proficient in agile software product
Experience of building and deploying Java EE applications using different historical frameworks (such as struts 1/2, AngularJS, Spring, JSP and JSF). This experience should run through to the modern era with Angular, Spring Boot and/or
Practical experience of Java persistence technologies such as Hibernate, JDBC and JPA. This requirement should also cover optimising these technologies to ensure acceptable performance is attained.
Experience with relational database systems such as Oracle particularly regarding Java
General interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to engage with various stakeholders to meet business and strategic objectives within the context of a regulated environment (e.g., compliance to information security requirements, GDPR, target architectures, etc.)
Modernisation strategies/patterns and implementation
Proven familiarity with the concepts and the implications of containerization and/or enterprise Kubernetes, and the impacts on application development and deployment (g. stateless, “cloud-ready”, immutability, etc.)
Experience in implementing OIDC and OAuth2 for identity and access management.
Experience of configuring OIDC/OAuth2 within the context of Java application servers such as JBoss/WildFly is also pertinent.
Solid working knowledge of RESTful APIs, both their design and implementation as well as application integration patterns (including the use of message queues).
Practical experience in migrating legacy monolithic applications to images/containers, for example moving from WebLogic and making use of JBoss/WildFly or
Knowledge and experience of Kubernetes deployment patterns (e.g., S2I, binary builds, injection of configurations, )
Candidates should hold appropriate RTWs for Ireland i.e. Stamp 4, Irish/British/EU passport.
