Software Engineer 1585
SimoTech is currently seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our team in support of a key client within the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector, located in Cork. This role provides an opportunity to play a direct role in the operation and optimisation of vital business systems within a highly regulated environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for the support, enhancement, and continuous improvement of essential software application and tools. This position is embedded within a well-established team and will partner with IT Engineers specialising in a variety of areas including MES, Data Analytics and validation.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, development and testing of software solutions using SQL, Python and Java to support manufacturing activities.
* Ensure high availability, data integrity, and regulatory compliance by maintaining and enhancing critical pharmaceutical software systems.
* Oversee daily operational activities including resolving system issues, data issues and customer incidents & change requests.
* Partner with scientists, engineers, and IT teams to understand business needs and drive system improvements.
* Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design, security protocols, testing procedures and change protocols as well as system procedures.
* Ensure team’s consistent adherence to compliance with company quality standards and practices, particularly in producing and maintaining all relevant system validation documentation.
* Monitor system performance and implement proactive measures to prevent downtime or data discrepancies.
* Deliver status reports and escalate critical issues to the appropriate business areas and management.
* Maintain and optimise existing systems to improve performance and reliability.
* Assist in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for software-related issues in manufacturing environments.
* Promoting the use of system functionality and new technologies to improve work processes.
* Facilitate and support audits and inspections by providing comprehensive technical documentation and system insights.
Qualifications
* Degree or qualification in IT or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
* 8 years of experience delivering and supporting IT software solutions.
* Experience in developing, testing, and deploying software solutions using Python, SQL and Java.
* Experience within the pharmaceutical industry and knowledge of GMP, CSV and data integrity requirements.
* Demonstrated learning agility across technical domains as well as business processes and applications.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with the ability to work independently and to take initiative.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
* Proven ability to proactively identify and drive improvements.
* Effective communicator who can communicate and build relationships cross-functionally.
