Building on the success of infrastructure projects across Ireland, we are now looking for a Principal to enhance our engineering design capabilities, develop client relationships in the public and private sectors, and provide managerial and technical guidance to our infrastructure team.
The role is based in Cork, offering a mix of office-based and remote work.
This position involves supporting the Engineering Lead in managing active travel/urban realm and street enhancement schemes, developing client relationships, and providing construction support across Ireland.
Main Duties
The successful candidate will support the delivery of multidisciplinary traffic, highways, and infrastructure projects for clients across Ireland and the UK.
The candidate will be expected to:
1. Act as Project Manager for transport infrastructure design projects, managing budgets.
2. Manage staff in preparing various design project stages.
3. Support contract document preparation, tendering, and construction phases.
4. Ensure technical accuracy and standards compliance.
5. Manage scheme deliverables production.
6. Review technical documents and assist in tenders.
7. Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance.
8. Collaborate with sector directors to identify opportunities.
9. Plan and manage work with resource managers.
10. Prepare fee proposals and support project budgets.
11. Provide on-site support during construction.
12. Participate in meetings with clients and stakeholders.
13. Work with multidisciplinary teams to meet project goals.
14. Stay updated with advances in infrastructure design.
Knowledge & Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
1. A relevant degree and experience in a design consultancy.
2. Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
3. Strong client relationship skills.
4. Proven project management success.
5. Experience with active travel, urban traffic schemes, and highway design software.
6. Experience in preparing design and contract documents.
7. Knowledge of TII requirements and safety standards.
