Job Description Job Title: HR Business Partner Department: Human Resources Reports to: Human Resources Operations Manager Date: August 2025 Overall Purpose of Job The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) plays a strategic role in aligning business objectives with employees and management. Serving as a consultant to leadership and staff on human resource-related issues, the HRBP acts as a change agent and employee champion, driving initiatives that support workforce engagement, high performance, and organisational success in a dynamic healthcare environment. The HRBP adds value and contributes to the delivery of the Hospitals objectives by working closely with Hospital Managers as a business partner, and acts as the local point of contact for the provision of HR advice, support and guidance to all Hospital staff The HRBP is responsible for the development of effective and credible working relationships and for the implementation of a variety of HR initiatives and action plans that positively influence patient and staff experience. The HRBP acts as a front-line HR specialist and has general responsibility for HR Planning and Development activities to assist and support the implementation of the hospitals HR Strategy. Key Responsibilities Strategic HR Partnership Collaborate with senior leaders and managers to understand operational challenges and deliver people solutions aligned with hospital goals. Advise on workforce planning, succession planning, talent management, and organisational development. Support change management initiatives and hospital-wide transformation projects. Employee Relations & Engagement Act as a trusted advisor to managers and staff on complex employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with employment law and best practice. Lead investigations, grievances, and disciplinary processes in a fair and consistent manner. Promote a culture of employee engagement, continuous feedback, and open communication. Talent Acquisition & Retention Partner with recruitment and hiring managers to support end-to-end recruitment strategies. Support onboarding processes to ensure seamless integration of new hires. Contribute to staff retention strategies through engagement insights and workforce analytics. Performance Management & Development Champion the hospitals performance review process, supporting managers in setting goals and managing underperformance. Work with Learning & Development colleagues to identify training needs and support capability-building programmes. Policy & Compliance Interpret and apply HR policies and procedures consistently and fairly. Ensure HR practices are compliant with Irish employment legislation and hospital accreditation frameworks. HR Metrics & Reporting Use HR analytics to drive decision-making, track key KPIs (e.g. turnover, absenteeism), and prepare regular reports for management. Qualifications & Experience Essential: Qualification in Human Resource Management (HRM) or related discipline, with commitment to work towards same. CIPD qualification or working towards same. Minimum 2 years HR experience preferably as a HR Business Partner or equivalent advisory role. Strong working knowledge of Irish employment law and HR best practices. Desirable: Experience in healthcare Exposure to industrial relations and union engagement.
