0.6 FTE High School Chemistry Teacher- CAPS CS/IT as part College and Career Readiness Program

Salary Range:
$46,744 to $107,076 Annually
Job Summary:
Develop the student's fullest acquisition of knowledge, skills, concepts, and attitudes.
This course is taught off-site at Dodge Nature Center in Mendota Heights, 5 days per week in the fall semester, and 1 day per week in the spring semester.
The successful candidate must be on site for all class periods.
In the spring semester, it will be necessary for the teacher to visit student internship sites.
Mileage for both spring and fall travel responsibilities for the program will be reimbursed at the established federal rate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods.
Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
Work collaboratively with a TriDistrict Agriculture teacher colleague to co-develop and co-teach an interdisciplinary Natural Resources, Sustainability, and Food Systems course.
This position's primary responsibility is for assuring the contextual implementation of Chemistry standards of TriDistrict high schools/districts–a "Community Chemistry" type of course.
This will also involve using the home-district's LMS.
Work with content area and non-content area colleagues (Chemistry, Science & related teachers in home and TriDistrict high school partner schools), along with community and business partners, to develop and implement a career-readiness based curriculum that melds high school coursework with workforce demands.
Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
Deliver the district's written, taught and assessed curriculum.
Along with their teaching partner, and in collaboration and cooperation with business partners, create and implement Project Based Learning and/or Action Research activities aimed at solving authentic industry partner projects.
Create a positive environment to ensure successful learning for all student.
Along with their teaching partner and with the support of the TriDistrict CAPS Program coordinator, develop a calendar of career and college readiness activities (speakers/presenters, field trips, site visits, etc.).
Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress, and to determine priorities for their children's social, emotional and academic growth.
Partner with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to support students' academic and social-emotional development.
Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
Adhere to all district policies and procedures.
Support the district's mission, vision, values and strategic plan.
Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic issues or special academic interests.
Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of states and schools.
Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula.
Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress.
Administer standardized, formative and state mandated assessments and interpret results to determine student strengths and areas of need.
Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
Understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families and staff.
Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, staff, families and community members.
Adhere to staff and program guidelines and district procedures and policies.
Demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
Other duties as assigned.
WORK REQUIREMENTS AND CHARACTERISTICS
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related field
License/Certification Requirements:
Valid Minnesota Teaching License or five (5) or more years of teaching experience
