Feed Mill Cleaning Operative

Mill Manager
Job Purpose:
To ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the feed mill environment, including machinery, equipment, and working areas, in line with site standards, biosecurity protocols, and relevant health and safety legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out scheduled and ad-hoc cleaning of all feed mill areas, including production areas, storage, intake, outload, control rooms.
* Clean equipment, machinery, and surfaces using appropriate methods (e.g. sweeping, vacuuming, pressure washing).
* Ensure dust and feed spillages are promptly removed to prevent contamination and fire hazards.
* Comply with biosecurity and hygiene requirements, including correct use of PPE and sanitization protocols.
* Follow cleaning schedules and complete associated documentation/checklists.
* Report any hazards, damage, or maintenance needs to the Mill Manager.
* Assist with waste management and disposal in line with environmental procedures.
* Support mill operatives during downtime or shutdowns as required (e.g. assisting with deep cleans).
* Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the site.
Essential Requirements:
* Good level of physical fitness – able to work on feet for extended periods, climb stairs, and carry out manual handling tasks.
* Attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean, safe working environment.
* Ability to follow instructions and adhere to cleaning schedules and safety rules.
* Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:
* Previous experience in a cleaning role, preferably in an industrial or food production environment.
* Understanding of feed mill operations, hygiene standards, or biosecurity.
* Forklift license advantageous (if assisting in general duties).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to €33,000.00 per year
