Job Title: Environmental Compliance Officer
Overview:
The role of an Environmental Compliance Officer is pivotal in ensuring that our environment remains protected and compliant with waste management legislation.
Responsibilities include investigating illegal waste activities, inspecting waste producers and facilities, collecting data on waste activities, conducting surveillance, and preparing detailed reports.
* Investigate illegal waste activities to report accordingly.
* Inspect waste producers, facilities, collection permit holders, and waste in transit for compliance.
* Collect, manage, and interpret data on waste activities to make informed decisions.
* Conduct surveillance when required to monitor and track waste activities.
* Prepare detailed reports on findings and update case management systems accordingly.
* Provide evidence in court proceedings when necessary.
* Collaborate with enforcement partners including Local Authorities, the Environmental Protection Agency, An Garda Síochána, and Customs & Revenue Service.
Requirements:
* A Bachelor's degree or at least 10 years' experience in investigations, enforcement, compliance assistance, and court representation.
* A full, clean driver's licence (Category B minimum).
* Strong analytical, organisational, and reporting skills.
* Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* A collaborative approach with the ability to work independently when required.
