A Fire Safety Engineering Director leads the design, implementation, and management of fire safety strategies and systems for buildings and projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices. Key responsibilities include developing fire prevention programs, conducting risk assessments and simulations, overseeing fire protection system design, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders, and mentoring junior engineers. This leadership role requires a strong technical background, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills to protect people and property from fire hazards. Key ResponsibilitiesStrategy & Planning: Lead the development and implementation of organizational fire safety strategies, risk mitigation plans, and compliance frameworks.Design & Technical Leadership: Oversee the design and specification of fire detection and suppression systems (like sprinklers and alarms) and ensure fire safety measures are integrated into building designs.Risk Management: Conduct comprehensive fire risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential issues and recommend appropriate mitigation solutions.Compliance & Standards: Ensure all fire safety designs and strategies meet relevant national and international fire safety legislation, building codes, and industry standards (e.g., Approved Document B in the UK, or Irish standards if applicable).Collaboration: Work closely with architects, construction teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure successful project outcomes.Mentorship & Team Management: Guide, mentor, and train junior engineers and other team members, fostering a culture of safety and continuous professional development.Technical Expertise: Provide specialized technical input, technical leadership, and expert advice to stakeholders and clients on complex fire engineering matters.Essential Skills & QualificationsTechnical Expertise: Strong foundation in fire science and engineering principles, including knowledge of fire modelling, fire dynamics, and fire-resistant materials.Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex situations, identify potential hazards, and develop innovative, effective solutions.Project Management: Experience in managing projects, budgets, and schedules to deliver high-quality fire engineering services within agreed timelines.Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including clients and regulatory authorities.Knowledge of Codes & Regulations: Up-to-date knowledge of relevant fire safety codes, standards, and legislation is critical.Leadership & Teamwork: Experience in leading and managing teams, promoting collaboration, and driving technical excellence.Requirements and QualificationsA background in fire engineering preferably within a consultancy environmentA Bachelors degree or higher within Fire engineering or similarChartered engineerThe right to work in IrelandHave site experienceHave proficiency in English.Be familiar with Part M of the Building Regulations.Job Type: Full-timePay: €90,000.00-€130,000.00 per yearWork Location: In person
