IntroductionThe IBM Application Services performance engineering team is looking for a Java Software Performance Developer. In this role, you will be part of a global team of engineers focusing on performance and scale for Red Hat and IBM's product portfolio under Application Services. As a performance engineer, you will be challenged to measure, analyze, and fix the performance of various enterprise solutions. You will also have the opportunity to lead the development and maintenance of the performance lab and its services. An integral part of the job is developing the tooling for the lab and automated performance analysis.In this role, you'll be part of one of the best teams specializing in Java Virtual Machine performance in the world. You'll interact frequently with other engineering teams and open source communities, use modern cloud technologies and cutting-edge methodologies to profile, analyze and review our product portfolio to ensure we have the best performance possible.Your Role And ResponsibilitiesAs a Java Performance Engineer, you will work in an agile, collaborative environment to develop, configure, and maintain performance analysis workloads, a dedicated performance lab, and relevant top-notch performance tooling. In this role, you will lead the problem resolution process for our users, from analysis and troubleshooting to deploying updates and fixes needed for the teams using the lab.Your Primary Responsibilities IncludeAnalyse, measure, and monitor the performance of various middleware products (mainly in Java)Monitor the performance lab's health, ensuring continuous reliability and an optimal user experience.Collaborate with engineering teams to provide initial assessments and possible workarounds for production issues. Troubleshoot and resolve production issues effectively.Leverage Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools to deploy services and configuration changes.Assist support engineers and customers with performance fine tuning of their deploymentsPreferred EducationNoneRequired Technical And Professional ExpertiseDeep experience with Java developmentDeep knowledge of JDK and Java APIsKnowledge of the language features of recent Java versionsExperience with Java performance analysis and tools like VisualVM, jProfiler, jMeterSkills in software monitoring/observability, issue response, and troubleshooting for optimal system performance.Experience with maintenance of CI/CD pipelinesBasic experience with Linux operating system and shell scriptingStrong debugging, problem-solving, and collaborative skillsPreferred Technical And Professional ExperienceIn depth experience with Jenkins, or other CI/CD tools. the Ansible, Python, Terraform, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, IBM Continuous Delivery, ArgoCDStrong knowledge of Linux operating systems.Knowledge of software performance testing and analysis (e.g., coordinated omission)Experience with large, distributed open-source or semi-open-source projectsRelevant (Java) open-source contributions (e.g., on GitHub)
